Nation
News: 6/16/2009.
Although
the NCF has not reached its maximum targets for sponsorship of Crop-Over
events, it has actually gained more sponsorship than last year.
The NCF raised its sponsosrship requirements this year, with the highest
being $250,000 for the title sponsorship for Cohobblopot.
Speaking at press conference where the Barbados National Bank presented
its sponsorship cheques, acting Chief Executive Officer Andrea Wells,
lauded BNB for having partnered with them for a decade.
"In these hard economic times they have done the corporate thing
and stepped up to the plate and showed their commitment to the arts and
to culture," said Wells.
She noted sponsorship had been challenging this year, but said they were
pleased with the long term sponsors who had stayed on board and the new
ones that had joined.
Manager Retail Services Broad Street Branch Andrew Campbell, presented
the NCF with a cheque for $65,000, part of the $80,000 pledged for this
year and the next two, totalling $240,000.
“The success of Crop Over lies not only in the hands of the NCF and
its ability to stage events, but is also dependent on business
communities and good corporate citizens for its sponsorship and
support”, he stated.
