   About 'Jazz From the City'

Jazz From the City was a Syndicated 2-hour weekly radio jazz show that ran in over 100 radio stations in the US, The Philippines, The Caribbean, the United Arab Emirates and the Tokyo FM Radio Network in Japan.  The series ran from 1983 thru 1996.

Jazz From the City was hosted by Ken 'Spider' Webb.  The shows contain updates for jazz events during that time, therefore, you will hear mention of a certain artist that may be no longer alive.  We view this as not forgetting that artist's contribution and therefore keeping him (her or them) and their music alive.

The music you hear was produced mainly between that period of 1983 through 1996 and may therefore be out of date.  You've heard it said that 'real jazz is timeless', and that's how we view 'Jazz From the City'.  If you hear something on the show that came out between those dates, let me know about it.

During that time many viewed the art of jazz as 'being dead', however, for those that know and appreciate the art form knew that Jazz was not dead, but very much alive and we tried to let everyone know by producing this program Jazz From the City.

Please give a listen and let me know your thoughts about the show.  I'd like to thank the many artists, producers and those who supported the show both in the US and abroad including my dear friend Mr. Taka Watanabe and his fine staff for making Select Jazz From the City a huge success in Japan.
